After School

PreK - 5th Grade

Our After School program is designed for kids preK - 5th grade who love to create, explore and think outside the box.

Class Experience:

  • Our classes are all about process over perfection; where kids are free to explore, take risks and express themselves.

  • We create at the park when possible 

  • Children will explore a wide range of materials and techniques—experimenting with painting, sculpture, collage, printmaking, and more, through both traditional and non-traditional art-making processes

  • Guest Teachers: Occasionally, we invite leaders from other creative organizations to come and share their knowledge and artistic journeys with our students. Our past guest teachers include Mr. Carlo from [ fLo rEs ta ], Ms. Annalisa from The Blue Bus Project, Ms. Van from The Sewing Clubhouse, and Ms. Seda from Little Hand Bklyn.

Sample Schedule

2:30pm – 3:15pm: Pickup from local schools and selected bus stops

3:15pm - 3:45pm: Snacks & homework

3:45–4:45: Art activity #1

5 - 5:30: Art activity #2 or open stations. Pick up at 5:30

  • Class Packs: multi-class packs at a discounted rate

  • Full Semester Package: Commit to a full semester for a discounted rate and exclusive benefits

    • 1 day a week $95/day

    • 2-3 days a week~$85/day (10% off)*

Notes:

  • Pick up from schools and bus stops: We offer pickup from local schools (PS 78, PS 384, GVS) and selected bus stops within walking distance.

  • PS. 384 students: During winter semester and heavy rain days, we will take MTA bus (Q101 or Q103) back to our studio

  • Drop-in families: Due to pickup schedules, drop-in afterschool families can drop off children at our studio at ~3:15pm. Or drop off at the park if we do projects outdoor (we will communicate via email or text). If you want us to pick up your child at a local school, please notify us via email at least 48 hours in advance.

  • Our program follows the NYC DOE calendar and operates on all days when NYC public schools are in session.

  • Preschool families: Please note that some preschool calendars may differ from the NYC DOE schedule. Kindly review your booking confirmation for the complete list of afterschool program dates.

 FAQ

    • At Xanh, we put our heart into the process—the making, the experimenting, the exploring. We believe creativity thrives not in perfection, but in freedom, curiosity, and discovery.

    • We recognize how powerful the natural world is in sparking children’s imagination and supporting their growth. Whether it’s a nature walk to gather inspiration, using natural textures in our artwork, or drawing from the colors of the season, nature is always woven into our program in some form. Many of our materials also come from everyday life—objects that invite children to see beauty and possibility in the world around them.

    • In our afterschool program, we have a specific theme for each week, but we don’t assign a specific art technique to each day of the week. For example, this Monday, students might explore sculpture, while next Monday they might work with painting or collage.

    • This flexible approach allows us to expose students to a variety of art mediums and techniques throughout their time with us, rather than repeating the same medium on the same day each week.

    • Step 1: Purchase a class pack on the Class Packs tab. Or you can choose to pay with a class pack right at booking options of each class.  

    • Step 2: Go to our schedule and choose the dates and times that work for you. You can choose different dates, different times. 

    • Step 3: Check out and you are all set 

    • All class packs have expiration dates. Please ensure you use it within the timeframe.

    • If a class is canceled by Xanh, all registered students will automatically be transferred to the next class. A credit is also available upon request.

    • Cancellations by customers must be submitted at least 14 days before the class to receive a credit, which can be applied to any future classes.

    • Please note that cancellations made less than 14 days before the class, as well as no-shows, are not eligible for refunds or credit.

    • Afterschool Semester families: Because our semester program is offered at a discounted rate, we’re unfortunately unable to provide credits for cancellations or missed classes once the afterschool semester has started.

    • If you want to reschedule the class, kindly let us know at least 24-48hours before class. Customers can reschedule one time per booking. Notification less than 24 hours is considered no-shows. 

    • Rescheduling/Changing requests might incur 10% administration fee

  • Strollers can be parked on the side of the building. However, Xanh is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

    • This class takes place at our indoor studio: 11-43 47th Avenue, Long Island City. This is a commercial building shared by multiple businesses at the same address.

    • You can enter our studio through the front or side entrance. Look for our signage.

    • Please ring the bell to enter. For safety reasons, all doors remain locked.

  • 4K. Our program can only accommodate 4K (at least 4yo and up) students.
